Teaching

One of my students made cookies for me! It was a very thoughtful (and tasty) gift!

I view teaching as a fundamental component of my role as an academic. To be an effective teacher is to be an effective mathematical communicator, an enthusiastic ambassador of mathematics, and a positive, welcoming presence for students. I wholeheartedly endorse Federico Ardila-Mantilla’s axioms for teaching mathematics and treat them as guiding principals within my classroom.

I’m a big advocate for Inquiry Based Learning at all levels of mathematical instruction, and have implemented it in many of my courses below. If you are interested in transitioning your class to an IBL format, please reach out! I would love to chat.
